Habitat
In evergreen forest at 30-100 m. alt. on limestone. At least 6 different local types known. Widespread in southern Thailand from Surat Thani in the north to Satun in the south. Abundant in the right habitat (limestone rocks, constant moisture, partial to full shade). Various green and red forms known. Blossom colour depending on local form from pure white to white and pink to pure pink. It flowers in the wet season and develops seeds in the beginning of the dry season. It goes dormant when too wet and during the dry season.
